ABOUT MULTI-LAYER STEEL HEAD GASKETS
Developed and manufactured in the USA.
MLS stands for Multi-Layer Steel. MLS head gaskets are comprised of three layers of stainless steel. The outer layers are an embossed Viton® coated stainless steel providing a superior seal with excellent rebound characteristics and are corrosive resistant. MLS head gaskets reduce bore distortion and withstand extreme cylinder pressures.

DP Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) head gaskets go on dry because they are coated with a sealant. Each MLS head gasket is coated with a .001" thick Viton rubber that is bonded to the outer stainless steel layers. Adding an additional sealer can hinder the performance of an MLS head gasket.

A surface finish of 50 RA (roughness average) or finer, is recommended for a proper gasket seal. Anything rougher may conflict with the gasket design.

When using MLS head gaskets always refer to the manufacturer (OE) of the fastener to determine accurate torque values.

•Provide maximum sealing performance for today's high output engines and require no sealants
•Ideal for aluminum heads to aluminum blocks and aluminum heads to cast iron blocks withstanding the shearing force created by the two materials.
•No need to re-torque, the embossing design of the MLS gasket promotes an even clamp load across the sealing surface allowing for measurable reduced bore distortion

DP MLS Gaskets are comprised of multiple layers of stainless steel due to it's increased strength, ability to rebound and resistance to corrosion.

The outer layers of the gaskets are embossed and coated on both sides with Viton - a flouroelastomer rubber based material that is heat resistant to 250°C /482ºF. Viton is designed to meet the demands of a variety of harsh sealing environments, load conditions, and surface finishes.

The center or shim layer is uncoated stainless steel layer which can be varied to accommodate multiple thickness requirements.

ABOUT RUBBER COATED STEEL BASE GASKETS
Rubber coated single layer steel base gaskets are Viton® rubber coated with a steel core and in some instances embossed. Quite simply the best base gasket made for most applications!

CFM-20 gaskets are fiber laminate over a tanged and galvanized steel core. An asbestos-free soft material compound containing aramid fibers, inorganic fillers, and high-grade binder elastomers is applied to both sides of the core.
